Kenton Nelson is a California-raised painter who continues to work in a manner that hearkens to the artists of the New Deal or WPA Era, with stark architectural, figural, or landscape paintings in concentrated light.  His great uncle was a muralist closely associated with that of Diego Rivera, and he has continued some vein of this artistic manner in what has become known as "California idealism".  His work has graced several covers of the New Yorker, and he's been the focus of numerous exhibitions at prominent galleries and institutions.
