Baker (Indiana - 1878-1943) was an American impressionist artist who primarily worked in Richmond, Indiana. Baker is amongst the well-known school of Brown County artists. This example is a finely executed example of Baker's work. Depicting a long narrow path through the woods at either dusk or sunrise, likely Brown County, Indiana. Oil on canvas. Trees flank the pathway on both sides in an autumn setting with fine fall coloring throughout the sky and landscape. Housed in a nice, period gilt frame. Signed lower left (large signature in red)
