Dexter Davis, (American/Cleveland, b. 1965). A mixed media original work from Davis, fixture of the Cleveland art scene and progressive African American artist. Graphite sketch, woodblock, and paper collage on heavy wove paper with ragged edges. Signed and dated '98 to the verso. Davis' work is reminiscent of James Brown, or even Basquiat. Davis is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art and has exhibited at the Cleveland Art Museum, MOCA in Cleveland, the Western Reserve, and his work is in the permanent collection of many institutions. Acquired directly from the artist by the collector. Signed and titled to back. 30" x 22" (size of work), 35.5" x 27" (framed).
